The Collaborative Award for Teaching Excellence (CATE) recognises and rewards collaborative work that has had a demonstrable impact on teaching and learning. Introduced in 2016, the scheme highlights the key role of teamwork in higher education. See the winning teams below.

The teaching team is driven by a shared educational vision to develop confident, academically resilient learners, capable of successfully completing an undergraduate degree programme.

The award-winning Academic and Digital Skills Team delivers a support service for all students at the university. Comprising librarians, academic skills tutors, administrators and student Digital Champions, the team develops services and resources responding wherever there is a need for them. The team works collaboratively in temporary teams with co-creators such as faculty academic staff, students and other university departments.

Donor Research is an award-winning NHSBT-funded network of healthcare professionals, academics and students. They work collaboratively to advance, support and shape their community's awareness of blood and organ donation for a fairer and more equal society.

Through the work of the Student Learning Assistants (SLAs) for Success team, SLAs are supported in enriching learning experiences, sharing student perspectives on teaching excellence and enhancing their own employability skills. SLAs are empowered to become leaders confident in co-leading curriculum-related projects, and offer mentoring and coaching support to their peers.

De Montfort University’s Embedding Mental Wellbeing team harnesses the power of academics, professional services and the Students’ Union in collaborative partnership to embed mental wellbeing activity across the University. Responding to the University community and the impact of Covid-19, this project has achieved cross-institutional transformation and cross-sector impact.

These backgrounds, associated with widening participation, has developed a unique set of transferable skills that they have brought with them into their work on anti-racism.
