The team brings an extensive portfolio of skills and experience including pedagogical innovation using digital technologies, implementation of classroom technologies and systems, project management and PR/communications with a collective track record in the facilitation of collaborative projects using digital technologies to support learning and teaching.
Impact of work
Adopting a collaborative, ' ground up' approach, the team focused on working across a research intensive institution in which staff face competing demands and where technological innovation is often championed by technology enthusiasts with little or no take-up beyond. Creating a multi-disciplinary community of practice has made an outstanding contribution in profiling digital technologies to enhance student learning. Through this vibrant forum, engaging over 600 staff and students in over 30 events, LITEbox has successfully built University-wide recognition of how digital technologies enrich teaching and learning. It has served as a key driver in this aspect of the University's Education Strategy. Students have directly benefited through dedicated digital skills development sessions and a series of student intern posts.
The team has also shaped the development of a new institutional Technology Enhanced Learning Strategy, with all four members appointed to a University Learning Technology Advisory Panel providing strategic direction.
Plans for the future
The University recognises LITEbox as a powerful channel for dissemination, now forming an embedded component of the University's TEL Strategy to support new ideas and case studies. The LITEbox blog will continue to be developed forming an integral part of a new institutional Learning and Teaching Resources Hub. A further £30k has been secured from Santander plc to enable students and staff to run projects exploring digital technologies and how they can be embedded within learning and teaching. The LITEbox community of practice will continue to create opportunities within which to discuss and disseminate the projects' findings. An additional bid is in development to secure funding for a new student intern post to support the delivery of the Santander-funded projects.
