The School has used the University workload system since 2015. The system enables the University to meet its obligations concerning staff health and safety (eg well-being and work-life balance), equality and diversity, consistency and fairness in the allocation of work and the collection of robust data. The model is subjected to equality impact assessment. Workload considerations form part of the annual performance development review (PDR). The PDR team includes the Head of School, men and women at Professorial level and the senior manager responsible for personal and professional development. An analysis of academic staff workload by gender in February 2016 revealed near parity.
