The institution has undertaken several actions to reduce the BME/White awarding gap. These include the appointment of a Lecturer (Academic Development) to focus on the BME awarding gap; the provision of up to £5,000 per school (2018/19) for targeted initiatives; and the use of application panels that are representative of BME staff. Two years into this targeted work and the institution has so far seen a reduction in awarding gaps by 7% points (BME/White) and 8% points (Black/White) since 2015/16.
