Embedding diversity into the governance of UK higher education; exploring solutions, ideas and experiences from within and beyond HE

Abstract Session - Paul Cleal

This workshop will discuss what aspects of diversity and inclusion universities should be focusing on and the level and range of progress made so far in diversifying.

The session is designed to help board members to set achievable targets for increasing the presence of under-represented groups in all areas of university activity including student bodies, staff and boards. This will include consideration of widening access, completion rates and attainment among students and how progress towards these targets can be assessed using data analysis and key performance indicators.

It will go on to consider how boards can identify barriers to progress and create and implement effective strategies for change using other industries as reference points as well as sharing best practice from within higher education.

The Governance Conference will take place on 28 November 2019 in London. Find out more.
