Academic Leadership: Changing Conceptions, Identities and Experiences in UK Higher Education - Summary

Summary of the report on the findings from a two-year investigation into academic leadership including perspectives from over 350 academics in 23 UK universities. Findings show that much of what is identified as 'academic leadership' is not provided by people in formal managerial roles but rather by colleagues within one's own academic discipline. They also note significant perceived differences between academic leadership and academic management, and what these mean for leading and developing academics.
