Behavioural approaches to understanding student choice

CFE and The University of Sheffield applied insights from behavioural economics to help better understand decisions about what and where to study. The study examined the wide range of formal and informal influences on choices and the thought processes used to reduce the burden of complex decision-making.

Understanding student choice can lead to improvements in student information advice and guidance which in turn lead to improved student engagement satisfaction retention success and employability – outcomes which are all in the interest of both prospective students and the sector.
