  • Case Study - BT
    BT was one of the first companies to set up a Foundation degree when it launched a programme for its Higher Apprentice intake in 2006. In the first year 20 students participated and the popularity of the vocationally-focused qualification has since risen considerably.

  • Case Study - Friends of the Elderly
    Nursing and care home organisations are increasingly finding it difficult to recruit and retain staff. There is a depleting pool of professional nursing staff resulting in nursing homes competing for limited NHS staff. For organisations like Friends of the Elderly (FOTE) a charity offering high quality residential and nursing care in 15 homes some with dementia units the 2012 demographic changes which will have a big impact.

  • Case Study - Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice

    The Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice (LOROS) is at the vanguard of enhancing the skills of those providing end of life care. Supported by fdf and Help the Hospices it has developed a new Foundation degree in Palliative and Supportive Care with the University of Northampton.

  • Case Study - NHS East Midlands
    fdf has been working with East Midlands' Pathology and Clinical Physiology managers the Strategic Health Authority modernisation leads and De Montfort and Nottingham Trent Universities to put modernising healthcare science careers into practice with a new cutting-edge Associate practitioner Foundation degree programme.
  • Case Study NHS South Central
    Through the support of fdf and local area partnerships NHS South Central is making a significant investment in enhancing its wider workforce to deliver effective personalised care.

  • Case Study - Tesco
    Tesco is the UK's largest private sector employer. Expansion of employment in the retail industry which already employs three million of the nation's workforce is also set to continue. To both develop talent in the existing workforce and attract new talent a retail specific Foundation degree is now available for partnerships of employers and higher education providers to adopt and adapt to meet business needs.

  • Case Study - Health Informatics
    The National Health Service Connecting for Health and the Strategic Health Authority for the Northwest together developed a Foundation degree course to train health sector workers in Health Informatics improving the efficiency of the public healthcare delivery and providing the necessary skills and expertise to advance the students' careers.

  • Case Study - TUI
    Thomson parent firm TUI is confident that its aim to retain more staff develop the skills of its workforce and create the next generation of talented managers will be boosted by the launch of a Travel Operations Foundation degree. TUI has benefited from working closely with help structure a two year Fd striking a fine balance between theory and vocational education.

    Young's Seafood Ltd quickly experienced financial returns from using a Foundation degree that the company designed in partnership with Grimsby Institute of Further and Higher Education to upskill its staff.
