Cynhadledd Cyfeiriadau’r Dyfodol 2012 - Future Directions conference 2012

In response to the Welsh Assembly Government’s strategy for higher education, For Our Future: The 21st Century Higher Education Strategy and Plan for Wales in 2009 (Department for Children Education Lifelong Learning and Skills, 2009), the HEA organised a sector event in 2010, at which representatives from all major higher education stakeholders agreed to a focused enhancement theme for Wales: Graduates For Our Future, with three work strands:

  1. Students as Partners;
  2. Learning in Employment; and
  3. Learning for Employment.

The work strands were officially launched in March 2011 and the three groups set about discussing how they could best capture innovation and practice from the sector. The work strands each produced a collection of case studies published by the Higher Education Academy in April 2012. The document outlined twin priorities for higher education: delivering social justice; and supporting a buoyant economy. For the sector, this means prioritising the strategic themes of widening access, student experience, skills, knowledge transfer and research. Wales’ first quality enhancement theme was born to address some of these.

The theme and work strands were showcased at the Inaugural Future Directions Conference – Graduates For Our Future on 26 April 2012 at Glyndŵr University as  three collections of cases, in English and Welsh. Later three shorter publications summarised the Lessons Learned.

Cymraeg:

Mewn ymateb i strategaeth Llywodraeth Cymru ar gyfer addysg uwch, Er mwyn ein Dyfodol: Strategaeth a Chynllun Addysg Uwch ar gyfer Cymru yn yr Unfed Ganrif ar Hugain  yn 2009 (Yr Adran Plant, Addysg, Dysgu Gydol Oes a Sgiliau, 2009), trefnodd yr Academi Addysg Uwch ddigwyddiad i’r sector yn 2010. Yn y digwyddiad hwn cytunodd cynrychiolwyr o’r prif sefydliadau addysg uwch i thema gwella benodol ar gyfer Cymru: Graddedigion ar gyfer ein Dyfodol, gyda thri llinyn gwaith:

  1. Myfyrwyr fel Partneriaid;
  2. Dysgu mewn Cyflogaeth; a
  3. Dysgu ar gyfer Cyflogaeth.

Lansiwyd y llinynnau gwaith yn swyddogol ym mis Mawrth 2011 ac aeth y tri grŵp ati i drafod sut y gallent grisialu arloesedd ac arferion y sector. Cyhoeddodd yr Academi Addysg Uwch gasgliad o astudiaethau achos gan bob un o’r llinynnau gwaith ym mis Ebrill 2012. Amlinellodd y ddogfen ddwy flaenoriaeth i addysg uwch: sicrhau cyfiawnder cymdeithasol; a chynnal economi ffyniannus. I’r sector, mae hyn yn golygu blaenoriaethu themâu strategol ehangu mynediad, profiad myfyrwyr, sgiliau, trosglwyddo gwybodaeth ac ymchwil. Sefydlwyd thema gwella ansawdd gyntaf Cymru er mwyn mynd i’r afael â rhai o’r rhain.

Cynhaliwyd arddangosfa o’r thema a’r llinynnau gwaith yng Nghynhadledd Gyntaf Cyfeiriadau’r Dyfodol – Graddedigion ar gyfer ein Dyfodol ar 26 Ebrill 2012 ym Mhrifysgol Glyndŵr, fel tri chasgliad o achosion yn y Gymraeg ac yn Saesneg. Yn ddiweddarach crynhowyd y Gwersi a Ddysgwyd mewn tri chyhoeddiad byrrach.
