Developing effective student staff partnerships

A presentation from the HEA Annual Conference 2013.

This presentation will describe how the Faculty of Science Engineering and Computing at Kingston University redeveloped its Student Course Representative Scheme in order to help create a stronger partnership between students and staff through the collection and feedback of academic and non-academic feedback to the student body and staff. Delegates will be provided with detailed information on the scheme which breaks with the traditional convention of Student Course Representatives (SCR) being selected through a voting process. The scheme has adopted an inclusive rather than exclusive approach by enabling up to five students per level and course to volunteer as a Student Course Representative. They are required to work collaboratively with fellow Student Course Representatives and students when undertaking the activities that contribute to the Student Course Representative Scheme and Certificate. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear from two students involved in the scheme and to ask questions.
