Engaged student learning: high impact strategies to enhance student achievement

University of Southampton

The aim of this project is to identify pedagogies that are highly effective in generating student engagement in learning within specific disciplinary contexts.

The main vehicle for exploring this challenging broad and diverse area will be a systematic review of the literature from which ten case studies will be identified to illustrate key features of high impact pedagogies within disciplines. Consultation with National Teaching Fellows and Principal and Senior Fellows via a questionnaire survey will be an important dimension of this research and will inform the development and analysis of discipline specific studies to ensure full and accurate coverage and synthesis of the literature. Furthermore advice from an expert panel and authors of selected case studies will enable us to provide an authoritative comprehensive and current review of the literature.
