In 2018, the Equality Challenge Unit (ECU) conducted the first Scotland-wide research of college staff on their experiences working in the sector analysed by protected characteristics. The research report Equality in colleges in Scotland: results from the 2017 staff survey and focus groups highlighted disabled staff and in particular their perceived poorer experiences across aspects of employment than non-disabled staff.
As a result of these notable findings, further analysis of the qualitative data was conducted which is presented in this report.
