Film Education: Why what how and for whom? University tutors’ perceptions of film pedagogy in a short course programme for part-time adult learners at a British university - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

This paper draws on current research and aims to provide insight into university tutors’ perceptions of their teaching in a short course programme for part-time adult learners at a British university. In–depth interviews of university tutors teaching Film Studies and related short courses in an adult higher education programme constitute the empirical dimension of the research project which embraces elements of narrative inquiry conceptual research and interpretative methodology. The research aims to contribute to meaningful film education and to a better understanding of some of the challenges in the dissemination of academic knowledge to the wider community
