Myerscough College - VLE Quality assessment framework - Strategic Excellence Initiative

What the project is?

The project involves the creation of a quality framework for the use of Virtual Learning Environments in Higher Education at Myerscough College.

Data has been collated from a range of HE learner and tutor sources at the College in order to determine what is needed from the VLE.  Analysis of this data together with scrutiny of a sample of frameworks from other institutions and integration of a review of existing research into the effective use of VLEs is being used to create a learner-centred framework aiming to meet the needs of our HE learners.

What the project hopes to achieve?

The project hopes to build on existing good VLE practice within HE at Myerscough College for continued enhancement of learning experience provision.

The framework aims to support HE tutors’ Continuing Professional Development through facilitation of reflection on their use of our VLE in teaching and learning practice self-assessment of successful teaching and learning approaches self-identification of potential areas for improvement development of practice as appropriate via formative guidance provided and evidence of practice e.g. for performance review and quality monitoring.

It is also hoped the framework will be transferable and useful to other institutions.
