NET 2018 Conference: Do MOOCs have a role in strengthening collaborative relationships for health workforce development?

Issues for debate paper

Inter-institutional collaborations are the main approach used to date to build capacity and strengthen healthcare delivery in low resourced settings often through considerable investment. This same formula can be magnified through agile and adaptive open educational online approaches including massive open online courses (MOOCs). An interconnected approach to resource development expanding educator roles within learning designs and delivery of MOOCs can facilitate the transfer of knowledge from global to local. Adaptive recognition of learning from reputable MOOCs and strategic institutional collaborations can facilitate a shared approach to attain the goals of equity and equality in health care.
