Partnership Learning Communities

Learning Communities involve people learning together in groups and socially constructing knowledge. Partnership involves people with different roles and expertise working together for mutual benefit. This resource looks at partnerships involving students and staff.

The University of Hertfordshire have identified two linked areas of focus which they believe are central to successfully developing partnership learning communities – learning and relationships. Material about each can be drawn from many areas and they have considered literature from the fields of: professional learning communities; student-staff partnership; student as researcher/producer; student voice; teaching adults; and peer learning. Partnership groups can use this resource to identify and engage with key aspects involved in developing and sustaining learning communities. The materials enable the process of building the community together to be made explicit.
