This pack is the result of a twelve-month project funded by the HEA ITDG fund which aimed to gain a clear understanding of how we can make the best use of our relationship with our alumni in order to promote employability.
The project used a range of activities to gather data on working with alumni. Activities included a survey sent out to all undergraduate students at the University of Southampton; focus groups with current students; a series of in depth interviews with recent alumni; and the monitoring of a series of events involving alumni running with the Faculty of Humanities. This pack condenses the results of these activities providing evidence of the impact of alumni-led employability events; ‘hints and tips’ advice for working with alumni and a list of possible activities; suggestions for use of alumni at different points within the student life-cycle; and a sample activity plan.
