Promotion process and policy (PPP)

While there has been development in the professionalisation of HE teaching there is still a need for continued development in providing evidence of teaching excellence. There is also a need to refine processes policies and practices with regard to promotion reward and recognition.

Promotion process and policy (PPP) is our first transnational change programme. It involves HE providers in the UK and Australia and builds on the outputs of a HEA-funded Promoting teaching project.

Using the latest international research on promotion reward and recognition the PPP programme helps organisations to:

  • establish criteria for teaching excellence
  • develop promotion processes and practices
  • develop policies to support reward and recognition
  • benchmark promotion practice against other institutions
  • enhance understanding of available research and evidence
  • share experience and expertise with other participants

Team members can also use their individual engagement with the programme to contribute towards their application for Fellowship of the HEA.

The PPP programme ran from December 2013 until December 2014 project details from participating institutions can be found below.
