Teaching for the real world: creating materials for experiential learning: The law in action

In the academic year 2010/11 the HEA funded Learning and Teaching Enhancement projects in Wales with funding of up to two thousand five hundred pounds per project. The projects covered a range of themes including assessment employability and education for sustainable development.

The project is a collaboration between Cardiff Law School Swansea School of Law and stakeholders such as Asylum Justice. The project devised a teaching programme providing skills-based training for students in UK asylum law and advice. This is a strand of the “Pro Bono” schemes that already operate in both Cardiff and Swansea. "Pro Bono" schemes provide practical training in legal advice. The schemes improve the student learning experience as well as enhancing the ethical and “citizenship” aspects of law teaching.
