Tribes Territories Research and Teaching: Enhancing the Teaching Research Nexus Literature Review

This literature review is one third of the Tribes Territories Research and Teaching: Enhancing the Teaching Research Nexus Project. The overall aim of the project is to rethink the concepts underlying the notion of the “teaching-research nexus” based on a review of the literature an analysis of a number of case studies and the findings of an interview study of teaching research and the links between them in four creative subjects in the UK.

Specifically this literature review sets out a summary of three key areas of the literature and explores the linkages between them. The three key areas are: 1) Linkages between disciplinary differences and research practices 2) linkages between disciplinary differences and teaching and learning and 3) the nature of the teaching-research nexus. The review aims to be review of approaches taken in pursuing these three areas rather than a descriptive review.
