UKPSF Impact case study - Durham University

In July 2012 the Higher Education Academy (HEA) commissioned the Staff and Educational Development Association (SEDA) to conduct an evaluation of the impact of the UK Professional Standard Framework (UKPSF).

The project evaluated awareness understanding and use of the UKPSF at the institutional and individual level and provided recommendations to the HEA on fostering the use of the UKPSF and future research in this area.

The project aims were to establish:

  • current levels of awareness and understanding of the UKPSF in the sector;
  • attitudes obstacles challenges and opportunities in using the UKPSF;
  • the uptake and variations in practice in use of the UKPSF.

An outcome of the study was a series of institutional case studies demonstrating a range of uses for the UKPSF.

Please note, this case study is focused on the UKPSF 2011. As of 1 January 2024, we are no longer accepting applications using this version of the framework. Find out more about the Professional Standards Framework 2023.
