The Connect Benefit Series throughout the month of July 2021 will celebrate HE sector colleagues around the world, and their demonstration of ingenuity, resilience and empathy to adapt to the changes in teaching, learning and assessment over the past year. We will discuss key challenges and share thought leadership, examples of good practice and practical advice, which have made a positive impact and may be maintained post – pandemic.
Outputs for this month include an interactive map showcasing the innovation of sector colleagues around the world, transcripts with some associated web links, two vlogs, an assessment and feedback publication and a live webinar.
By the end of the theme benefits those participating will have had the opportunity to:
- develop a sense of community within Advance HE’s global partnership and a sense of belonging to Advance HE
- appreciate and be able to apply to practice equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) as central components of assessment and feedback in higher education today
- identify and share practical and innovative examples of pandemic assessments and learn from contributions (via interactive map, transcripts and associated materials shared by contributors)
- explore key challenges facing the sector in assessment and feedback in the pandemic and post pandemic era
- collaborate with colleagues and partners to identify possible approaches and solutions in relation to these issues.

Advance HE assessment torch bearers – Interactive map
As part of the recognition of the challenges faced by colleagues across the world in the area of assessment, Advance HE crowd sourced examples of some approaches taken to provide our map visitors with a snapshot of pandemic assessment practices. Throughout July we will be publishing several artefacts (short videos, texts or posters) each day on our map and also providing a transcript if the artefact has audio with any additional information. As the map is populated, a full transcript can be viewed here.
Below is the link to the map where you will be able to follow the progress of the torch relay by clicking on a map pin and opening up the contribution.
