Opportunity for Fellows follows new teaching collaboration

07 Jun 2019 | Advance HE Advance HE and AMEE to collaborate in promoting teaching excellence.

Advance HE and the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate in promoting teaching excellence.

The MOU will see the two organisations work together on a range of activities, developing and recognising teaching in higher education. The MOU includes HEA Fellowship being accepted by AMEE as evidence to achieve AMEE Associate Fellowship, and HEA Senior or Principal Fellowship as evidence to achieve AMEE Fellowship. Existing AMEE Fellows may use some of their evidence from their AMEE Fellowship to help build an application for HEA Fellowship.

AMEE promotes international excellence in education in the healthcare professions across the continuum of undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing education. Among AMEE’s recent initiatives is the launch of an innovative journal – MedEd Publish –a post-publication peer review journal that provides an excellent way for researchers to develop and publish in the field of medical and healthcare education.

Professor Ronald M Harden, General Secretary of AMEE, said, “This is an important collaboration which sees the combined energy our two organisation working together to promote teaching excellence. The agreements relating to Fellowship is a mark of our commitment to pursue our shared aims.”

Kathryn Harrison Graves, Director of Membership and Accreditation, said, “We are delighted to form this close relationship with AMEE. The development, recognition and sharing of good practice is core work to both of our organisations.

“We look forward to presenting at AMEE’s conference this summer, and I would also encourage Fellows in medical and healthcare fields to take the opportunity to submit work to MedEd Publish.”
