Advance HE signs 50th International Partnership

27 Jul 2018 | Advance HE The National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu City, Taiwan has become an Advance HE Access Partner, and is now our 50th international partner.

In the first steps of the partnership, Advance HE staff will deliver the Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (CLTHE) to University staff. This flagship development programme provides academic staff with a comprehensive understanding of the theory and practice of teaching and learning in higher education. It is designed to support staff who are experts in their subject area, but may have limited formal training in teaching and learning. The certificate is aligned to the Professional Standards Framework, the only international framework to benchmark learning and teaching in higher education

Staff completing the programme will be well-placed to apply for HEA Fellowship, in order to demonstrate their commitment to professionalism in teaching and learning in higher education.

Professor Frank Chang, President of National Chiao Tung University, said: “We are very pleased to be working with Advance HE in this initiative to focus staff on the latest thinking around the concepts of teaching, as well as curriculum design and enhancing best practice. We are committed to being a world-leader in science and technology research, and developing excellence further in our teaching staff is key to our development goals.”

National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) was originally founded in Shanghai in 1896 under the name of Nanyang College and shares the same origin as the Jiaotong universities. Since then, the University had become a forerunner in the fields of science and technology research. It has made significant contributions to the development of information, communication, semiconductor, integrated circuits, optoelectronics sciences and technology.
