Advance HE welcomes ‘Climate Action for University Chairs’

28 Oct 2021 | Advance HE New guidance developed by the Climate Commission for UK Higher and Further Education (UUK, GuildHE, Association of Colleges and EAUC) with the support of CUC.

Andy Shenstone, Advance HE Director of Business Development and Delivery, said, “At a time when world leaders gather for COP26, the Climate Commission’s new guidance is extremely timely. The guidance places climate action firmly on the Board agenda for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). As authors remind us, Board, Court or Council members are critical in supporting Executive teams bring about urgent changes to address climate and natural world change.

“The guidance highlights institutional risk and strategic opportunities for universities and, in particular, in offers very practical steps for Boards and senior management teams; helping them to consider specific areas for climate action and future-proofing their institutions to – as the guidance says – ‘mitigate and adapt to climate change and improve the institution's resilience.’ In short, it’s an excellent guide for Board members and all engaged in HE governance and leadership.”
