Athena SWAN renewal process

18 Dec 2019 | Advance HE Advance HE publishes the renewal process for Athena SWAN – easing and streamlining the way award holders reapply

From today, Athena SWAN award holders will be able to reapply for their award using a process which focuses on progress made against their initial action plans and their future priorities. This means awardees will not have to make a full submission each time to retain their award. An Athena SWAN award remains valid for four years.

Dr Ruth Gilligan, Advance HE's Assistant Director - Equality Charters, said, “The new renewal application process is essentially an audit on progress and intent. This approach means that we have been able to reduce the resubmission requirement by about 50%, which I am sure awardees will welcome.

“That said, it’s vital that we maintain the integrity of the award re-applications. I’m absolutely confident that this renewal process does just that, while at the same time recognising the commitment already evidenced by awardees in their original submission.”

The full details of the renewal process are here.
