Flagship higher education leadership programme welcomes Robin Ryde

12 Jul 2018 | Advance HE The former chief executive of the UK National School of Government is joining Advance HE as a facilitator on the new agency’s highly regarded Top Management Programme. Robin Ryde will join the next programme cohort – its 43rd - in autumn 2018. He will be working with TMP faculty members and Advance HE associates, Louisa Hardman, Rosemary Stamp and Vijaya Nath.

The former chief executive of the UK National School of Government is joining Advance HE as a facilitator on the new agency’s highly regarded Top Management Programme.

Robin Ryde will join the next programme cohort – its 43rd - in autumn 2018. He will be working with TMP faculty members and Advance HE associates, Louisa Hardman, Rosemary Stamp and Vijaya Nath.

About Robin Ryde

Robin Ryde is an author, leadership and organisation development (OD) expert, and former Chief Executive of the UK National School of Government.  Robin has been a director with the UK Cabinet Office, director with the UK National Audit Office and he currently holds the role of programme director with the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) for whom he runs the flagship leadership programme – the Executive Fellows Program. He is also head of leadership with the Oxford Group. 

Robin has focused his work in two areas; in supporting boards and leadership teams usually in the process of devising strategy and leading change, and in directing large leadership development endeavours. He has a broad range of senior level experience and has consulted in the UK, the US, South America, Australia, United Arab Emirates and Eastern Europe. Robin has worked with a wide range of organisations such as the Oxford University Press, the Wellcome Trust, Greenpeace UK, Fitch ratings, and Sainsbury’s as well as a variety of HEIs.   

His management publications include Creating Authentic Organizations (co-author Lisa Sofianos, Kogan Page 2014), Never Mind the Bosses (Wiley 2012), Custom-Built Leadership (2008) and Thought Leadership (2007), both with Palgrave Macmillan.  His non-management publications include The Truth of Revolution, Brother (Situation Press 2014) and his first novel, Southern Cross (Situation Press 2017).

Robin has been a visiting fellow of the UK’s Ashridge Management Centre, and a fellow of NSW’s Health Education and Training Institute. He has written for publications including the Guardian, City AM, the International Journal of Leadership in Public Services, the Mandarin (Australia), Training Journal, and Civil Service World. Robin is founder and co-owner of the independent publisher Situation Press.  He is vice chair of the governing board of Richmond Park Academy. 

 

About the Top Management Programme

The Top Management Programme (TMP) is Advance HE’s flagship programme and has established a track record in developing strategic leaders in higher education. Over 60 of the current UK vice-chancellors/principals are TMP alumni, with many of the other past participants of TMP holding some of the most senior posts throughout higher education. Applicants require the full support of the institution/organisation and the vice-chancellor/principal or CEO.
