Inclusive recruitment is the focus for the first of Advance HE’s new EDI Colloquia in 2023. This one-day, virtual colloquium on 12 July will look at improving representation and creative initiatives in inclusive recruitment across student and staff communities.
The EDI Colloquia are designed to offer higher education staff a forum to exchange different ways of thinking about key equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) challenges and new approaches.
Dr Arun Verma, former Head of the Race Equality Charter and current Head of Diversity and Inclusion at the University of London, and Dr Dave Thomas, Associate Professor at Solent University and Associate Consultant (Diversity and Inclusion) at Advance HE, are among the keynote speakers.
Niema Bohrayba, Senior Consultant at Advance HE and facilitator of the colloquium, said, “Inclusive recruitment is an integral part of an organisation’s EDI and HR strategies. It’s a complex topic and refers to the end to end process of attracting, assessing and appointing candidates to vacant roles. Done well, inclusive recruitment can lead to improved representation of talent within an organisation.
“In this colloquia, we aim to spotlight this important process through detailed conversation whilst also providing a chance to learn from others and take fresh ideas on board.”
