Innovation in Teaching Practice - gamification

15 Apr 2021 | Advance HE Delegates will understand how to adapt this playful learning pedagogy into their teaching practice in this one-day virtual workshop.

Our Innovation in Teaching Practice workshops cover a range of topics relevant to teaching and learning in higher education, providing practical support to introduce new innovative teaching practice developments and to help implement policy at module, programme, departmental or faculty level. Our workshops are an interactive forum for learning, sharing practice and overcoming barriers to excellent teaching.

Gamification 2 takes place on 24 May and is intended for innovators, educators, entrepreneurs and learning developers in higher education who have a curiosity and/or an interest in learning more about the pedagogy, application and value of adopting a gamified approach to enhancing learning and teaching.

We asked Tim Hinchcliffe, Senior Advisor Learning and Teaching at Advance HE and workshop leader, to explain gamification and the benefits of playful learning. In this video he talks about what delegates will learn in the workshop and the outcomes, and demonstrates how gamification is relevant to the future of teaching and learning.

Tim Hinchcliffe is an experienced higher education teacher and leader, who is responsible for the design and delivery of both teaching excellence programmes and bespoke consultancy, in domestic and international markets.
