Transitions, retention and progression – second podcast

17 Aug 2021 | Advance HE Our first Connect Benefit Series for 2021-22 is a three-month long project exploring transitions, retention and progression in higher education. In this second podcast, Hannah Copeland, VP Education, Heriot-Watt University, shares her insights into student concerns and how universities can do more to support student success.

In this podcast, the new VP Education at Heriot-Watt University, Hannah Copeland, shares her insights into student concerns going into the new academic year and the ways in which universities can do more to support students to be successful during their undergraduate journey.

Hannah shares how the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic has reinforced the need for greater certainty and consistency in approach from universities so that students can be confident in the learning and teaching experience that they are going to encounter during the 2021-22 academic year.

Providing a timely warning to universities about importance of the place of study – which for many students over the last year may have been a room on campus – Hannah highlights the need for greater transparency and enhanced communication between universities and students.
