Dr Lezley-Anne Hanna began her academic career at Queen's University Belfast, School of Pharmacy in 2004 after gaining community pharmacy experience working as a pharmacist for a multinational company. Teaching Pharmacy Practice largely through dynamic and contemporary learning approaches and reflection, she endeavours to inspire future pharmacists to be passionate about their profession, equipped with the necessary attributes to be safe and effective healthcare practitioners.

Dr Lezley-Anne Hanna began her academic career at Queen's University Belfast, School of Pharmacy in 2004 after gaining community pharmacy experience working as a pharmacist for a multinational company. Teaching Pharmacy Practice largely through dynamic and contemporary learning approaches and reflection, she endeavours to inspire future pharmacists to be passionate about their profession, equipped with the necessary attributes to be safe and effective healthcare practitioners. Lezley-Anne completed PGCHET (2006) and a PhD in evidence-based practice (2010). Undertaking these gave her insight into education, stimulated her interest in educational research and motivated her to champion evidence-based practice. She was promoted to Senior Lecturer (Education) (2013) and received Royal Pharmaceutical Society Faculty Fellowship (2016). She was also delighted to be awarded Higher Education Academy Senior Fellowship (2017). Impact of work Pharmacy Practice modules that Lezley-Anne has developed over the last twelve years are of exceptional quality and authenticity as evidenced by receiving five education awards. Through active-learning opportunities, student and peer partnerships, she provides a superior experience for students and helps ensure that Queen's University Belfast School of Pharmacy remains a highly ranked UK School, within the QS top 100 World University Rankings by Subject. She is really proud of the initiative she has developed to support international students personal and professional development at university. Having gained educational awards and published pedagogical research in pertinent areas, she is sought as a mentor and adviser within her organisation and beyond. Lezley-Anne actively engages in various quality assurance and enhancement roles through central university committee membership, and both regulatory organisation and External Examiner work. Her in-depth understanding of evidence-based practice and decision-making about over-the-counter consultations has raised the knowledge-base of this subject across the profession, at a national level. Though the production of diverse educational material including an award winning app, and conducting research, she positively impacts on patient care. Moreover, she has influenced Government policy at Whitehall through membership of a working group. Plans for the future By providing ongoing expertise to key educational, regulatory and professional organisations, she strives to further support governance and development needs of the pharmacy profession. Through this work, she can be assured that a learning culture grounded in authenticity and relevance is being fostered.
