Dr Wayne Campbell is the Academic Registrar at the University of York, with responsibility for Student (Academic Registry) Services, Student Life and Wellbeing, Careers and Placements, Academic Support, Online Learning, and Library & Archives.

Before coming to the University of York as Academic Registrar in January 2019, Dr Campbell was Director of Student Services and Senior Master at the University of Kent. Prior to Kent he held the role of Academic Registrar at the Universities of Essex and Lincoln, and has worked as a senior manager in higher education for over 20 years. His experience extends to all aspects of the student journey from admission through to graduation and beyond.

Dr Campbell is a graduate in Biochemistry from the University of Kent where he also gained a PhD in the field of Biotechnology, and he possesses two masters’ degrees from the Universities of Cambridge and Loughborough. He is a Fellow of the Association of University Administrators and held the position of Chair of the OIA Higher Education Advisory Panel from 2013 to 2016. His working life started as a Senior Research Associate at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, University of London, before making the deliberate transition into higher education administration.
