Louise Knowles is a UKCP registered Psychotherapist. With more than 25 years of working in the public, not for profit and independent sectors, Louise has a wealth of experience both in managing services and delivering individual and group psychotherapy and clinical supervision. 

For the last nine years Louise has been Head of Mental Health and Psychological Therapy Services at the University of Sheffield. She has led this large, well-respected service, overseeing a considerable expansion in provision and the achievement of becoming the first UK university to be accredited by the Accreditation Programme for Psychological Therapies. Pioneering this achievement highlights Louise’s commitment to ensuring the highest clinical quality in service provision. 

Louise believes that quality has to be backed up by sound evidence and the relationship between research and practice is critical to the ongoing development of psychotherapy. She is a Charter assessor for Student Minds, is a member of the SCORE consortium is on the board of Psychology Informing University Practice for Wellbeing - Psychup as well as sitting on UKCP research working group. Louise has contributed to a number of published articles and more recently co-wrote her first book chapter now published Navigating the Landscapes of ‘Evidence’ in Research.
