Professor Sherria Hoskins is Executive Dean (Science and Health) at the University of Portsmouth.  She is responsible for the leadership of the Faculty, which comprises of the Department of Psychology, School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, School of Geography, Department of Sports and Exercise Science, the School of Health Science and Social Work, the University of Portsmouth Dental Academy, the School of Pharmacy and Biomedical Science and the School of Biology.  The Faculty is the largest faculty within the University, with an annual budget of over £45 million, around 4,500 undergraduates, 420 postgraduate taught and research students, 264 academic staff, 60 research staff and over 186 support staff, and is situated over 9 sites/buildings. Sherria recently restructured this Faculty, creating a saving of £6 million per annum and instituting many systems and processes to create organisational resilience.  She is also a member of the University Executive Board who are responsible for the strategic leadership of the University of Portsmouth.  

Sherria combines leadership with a successful research career.  She has played a role in research teams generating over £10 million of research income and an additional £2 million as the lead researcher.  Her research seeks to understand how beliefs (e.g. implicit and self-theories) impact peoples’ behaviour (e.g. resilience and motivation) and outcomes and how we can positively develop these.
