Dr Miri Firth is Senior Lecturer and Academic Lead for Assessment at the University of Manchester, where she leads sector-wide innovation in employability education and flexible assessment. Her teaching practice is grounded in inclusive pedagogy, experiential learning, and research-led curriculum design, enabling students to develop confidence, creativity, and career-readiness. 

A Principal Fellow of Advance HE, Miri’s work has shaped national policy and institutional practice, including leading the award-winning University of Manchester Assessment Toolkit, adopted by over 6,000 staff and 40,000 students. She chairs the AGCAS Creative Industries Task Group, representing over 200 universities, and co-leads national projects with the QAA and JISC on assessment reform and employability. 

Her scholarship is widely published through Advance HE, Times Higher Education, and BERA, with invitations to speak at OECD, JISC, and Advance HE international symposia. Recognised with teaching awards and multiple national fellowships, Miri is committed to developing evidence-based, equitable, and flexible approaches to learning and assessment that enhance student success and lifelong employability.
