Kay has wide-ranging experience of consulting with stakeholders, particularly in the higher education sector, as well as with interest groups and the public at large.
Kay has carried out numerous projects for Advance HE and its predecessor organisations. Most recently, Kay has provided support on Advance HE governance effectiveness reviews analysing and reporting on governance effectiveness surveys, and compiling the first Governance Benchmarking report for AHE. Other examples of work for Advance HE includes analysis for the training and development requirements for university leaders projects in Myanmar and in Egypt, and of a pilot HE leadership development programme in Ukraine; HEFCE funded projects to look at options for a sustainable programme of demand-raising activity in modern languages, and a review of governance support in HE; and a progress review of implementation of new model for student administration services for the University of South Wales.
Kay is currently (since 2019) working part-time at Swansea University supporting a Welsh Government funded project which aims to develop a framework to embed innovation thinking across companies in Wales, to increase productivity and new product development. Kay is carrying out analysis of impact, and evaluation of the project, which will include survey analysis, semi structured interviews and desk-based research.
