Patrick Younge (BSc 1987) is one of the UK’s leading media figures with an international career in the world of television and media.

He is a former Chief Creative Officer for BBC Television, leading over 3000 staff working across 8 UK locations and creating some of the UK’s biggest shows including Natural History, Dr Who, Strictly Come Dancing and Top Gear.

Prior to his role with the BBC, he was recruited by Discovery Communications Inc. to turn around a major American cable television network. He has also worked for BBC News, BBC Sport, ITV, Channel 4, and independent production companies.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Television Society and has been selected by the Powerlist of the 100 most influential Black people in Britain on six occasions. He was an independent Governor and Vice-Chair of the Board at the University of West London, as well as a member of a number of its sub-committees.

As well as being an alumnus of Cardiff University (graduating with a BSc in Mineral Exploitation), Patrick is also a former President of both the University’s Athletic Union and the Students’ Union as well as former VP, Education of the National Union of Students (NUS).

Patrick was appointed Chair of Council in January 2022. He is also a member of the Finance and Resources Committee, Governance Committee and Remuneration Committee.
