Student suicide

Any instance of suicide at a higher education institution must be dealt with sensitively, recognising the impact it will have on friends, family, and the educational community.

Public Health England and Business in the community have produced a suite of materials to help institutions including a suicide postvention toolkit co-produced with the Samaritans that can be found here.

Other guidance for educational institutions can be found on the Samaritans website here.

In September 2018 Universities UK released guidance for institutions, in conjunction with PAPYRUS, on preventing student suicide. This guidance can be found here.
