The impact of Covid-19 means blended, hybrid and online learning approaches have become the norm for institutions.
The quality of these new approaches, as well as the associated alternative learning, teaching and assessment experiences, need to be comparable to the original provision.
In response, Advance HE has developed a suite of services which aim to support institutions in ensuring their curricula are fit for this new environment as well as making sure staff are equipped with the knowledge and tools to deliver their teaching at a continued high quality.

Bespoke services
This suite of services can be tailored to your institution's requirements. We will develop these programmes through consultative conversations to provide the greatest value in your specific context.
“The programme helped to focus staff on the latest thinking around the concepts of teaching, as well as curriculum design and enhancing best practice.”

Active Digital Design
ADD prioritises an active approach to learning and teaching using digital design techniques. It recognises that to engage students online and make them active learners, we need to design with a digital-first mindset.
This two-phase online project will take colleagues through the five steps of the ADD approach; offering diagnostic work through initial consultation and a needs analysis; focused discussion with decision makers and programme teams; identified recommendations to develop and enhance the learning, teaching and assessment experience; a tailored ADD approach that will prepare colleagues to enhance online learning (including associated ADD resources and templates); and a final project debrief session that will consider future developments.
Teaching Skills Masterclasses
The Teaching Skills Masterclass offers a flexible and evidence-based solution for the development of university-level teachers. It is aimed at exposing staff to new approaches in teaching and learning in higher education.
To support institutions in adapting to the 'new normal' created by the Covid-19 crisis, we have developed the programme to help staff to engage in online teaching methods, as well as offering the option to explore teaching in HE more generally.
Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education
The Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education is Advance HE’s flagship teacher development programme, modelled on programmes delivered globally including at institutions in the UK, Africa, Asia, Australasia and Europe. It offers a flexible, evidence-based and sustainable solution for the development of university-level teachers, based on “what works” in higher education. The programme can be delivered entirely online, entirely face-to-face or using a blended approach on a module-by-module basis to fit your needs.

Open programmes
We have developed new programmes aimed at developing staff in the new digital environment. The open programmes take place on specific dates and welcome people from across the HE sector.
“It was great that organisers did not give us a ready knowledge about teaching, but food for thinking, many kinds of tools to choose the most appropriate ones for our educational environment.”
