Research Support for Students (ReSuS)

The interest in qualitative methods in psychology (Elliott Fischer & Rennie 1999) is being paralleled by students' increasing use of qualitative methods in final year projects. Whilst most students produce quality reports conducting qualitative work may be less than optimal experience for both students and supervisors; enquiring techniques can be anxiety-arousing and data analysis can be time consuming.

This study sought to develop effective means of utilising group work to complement one-to-one supervision. This was achieved through establishing monitoring and evaluating a trial Research Support for Students (ReSuS) group(s) to facilitate peer interaction in the design implementation and analysis of qualitative project work.

The worksheets and user guide produced as a result of this project can be downloaded from the links opposite.
