From 2019-2023 she served as Pro Vice-Chancellor Teaching & Learning and Director of Equity and Inclusion at London Metropolitan University where she led the transformation of quality in teaching and learning and student experience, delivered year on year improvement in outcomes and performance, inclusive culture for staff and students and significant success in increasing diversity at all levels of the staff pipeline. She is a prominent thought leader for EDI within Higher Education Leadership and has supported sector bodies and organisations with developing effective strategies for systems change. A barrister by background, Zainab serves as a member of the FA Premier League’s EDI Standard, is a trustee of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal and co-chairs WHEN's Senior Women of Colour Network in Higher Education (powered by Alumni Global).
