The department planned to ensure staff were aware of information concerning grade structures and opportunities for career progression. Information on career progression was made available online in order to create easier access for staff, alongside the continued close monitoring of re-grading requests and promotion applications received by HR.
Outcomes
As a result of the department’s action plan, staff survey responses displayed a sharp increase in awareness of re-grading structures, rising from 37% in 2012 to 63% in 2013. Additionally, there were no unsuccessful re-grading applications during 2013, and within this same time period, seven female researchers were promoted.
