Beginning the journey; foundation students' expectations and engagement

A presentation from the HEA's Annual Conference 2012.

Our mixed methods study of foundation students across two universities provided quantitative and qualitative data on student expectations. We found unrealistic expectations of the trajectory of their marks over time and a need to believe that the effort juggling and expense were going to be justified by eventual academic success.
