Does careers education work? Measuring the impact of credit bearing careers education and considering the motivations of students for choosing such learning - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

This session will share with you highly current and relevant research into the effectiveness of credit bearing careers education.  Does such education work and how can we unequivocally prove its value?  Are students who choose to take an optional careers module more motivated anyway and as such would have had a positive graduate outcome regardless?  The data has to be robust the findings clear and the implications understood and shared. We will share with you our methods outcomes (including pitfalls and recommendations) and will discuss how these findings can be used with our students colleagues and senior university management.
