field work

The process of studying or exploring something through first hand investigation out ‘in the field’.

Field work is usually interactive and provides students with the opportunity to widen their practical and cultural experience. It is a particularly useful method for subjects like Geography Anthropology and Archaeology where learners can examine a topic in context collect data for analysis and generate work for discussion in tutorials and seminars.
