NET 2018 Conference: Developing peer facilitation skills amongst undergraduate students to promote dementia awareness with children in a higher education institution

Innovation paper

This presentation reports on a Santander Universities funded project which aimed to enable Nursing students to be a more dementia friendly resource within their families and communities. Final year Nursing students were supported to become Dementia Friends facilitators and to co-design and deliver interactive dementia awareness sessions to peers and children attending wider access initiatives within the university. Within this innovative project the student facilitators were able to raise awareness about dementia how people can live well with dementia and what society can do to make a positive difference to people living with dementia in our communities.
