Textbooks in the Digital Age (TLC 2009)

This paper offers a publisher's view on the changing landscape for History textbooks. It assesses the key challenges for textbook publishers in the digital age examines developments in the publishing field to date and anticipated future trends in the way book content will be produced and sold. The paper then explores the different editorial models publishers may look to develop for History textbooks combining better printed books with greater online possibilities to create new integrated packages of learning materials. It concludes with some reflections on the priorities for publishers and authors in developing the best textbook content within this changing environment.
