Experiences with using peer marking in year 1 Engineering

This paper was presented at the 2008 Engineering Conference - Innovation Good Practice and Research in Engineering Education.

This paper gives five different examples of how peer assessment has been introduced into the author’s department in the last year. Alongside the description of the activity the paper presents reflections on efficacy linked into what the literature says and summaries of student feedback. There is also some discussion of interesting insights for lecturers considering peer assessment. Finally the paper proposes some plans for the future.
