The pedagogical benefits of preparing our students for the professional world - HEA Annual Conference 2017 - Generation TEF: Teaching in the spotlight

This presentation will showcase two schemes which have improved both our DLHE and NSS scores and aided recruitment. The first is an academic placement scheme whereby students work with academics and external professionals to craft research projects outside the classroom that are evaluated via module assessment. The second is the Professional Track in which students undertake placements but also vocational and skills training some of which is delivered by lecturers. By working with students as partners and showing a clear recognition of their professional needs we are enhancing not just our metrics but also our educational relationship with students.
