Supporting Student Nurses in Transition to Registered Practice – The Professional Advisors Project - NET2017 Conference

The Professional advisors project supported third year mental health nursing students to develop and progress with confidence into being registered practitioners. Students were supported through the transition to registered practice during their final year of training by senior clinicians (professional advisors) during regular unstructured meetings or contact. The nature of this relationship was significantly different to the mentor role and allowed the student to explore their own values and identities as nurses and as people without having any requirement for assessment. This resulted in internal personal growth for students and allowed advisors to get back in touch with their passion for nursing.
